Description

A unique opportunity to see some of the UK’s top technology innovators pitch their product or service to an audience of investors, researchers, entrepreneurs and advisors, as part of the Digital Shoreditch festival.

A unique opportunity to see some of the UK’s top technology innovators pitch their product or service to an audience of investors, researchers, entrepreneurs and advisors, as part of the Digital Shoreditch festival. The UK has an incredible depth of research coming out of our world-class universities. Each company pitching is a spin-out capitalising on R&D from a different university around the country. This is a chance to see deep innovation and breakthrough thinking. Format This exciting showcase evening will see presentations from a series of talented entrepreneurs, who will have strictly 5 minutes to pitch followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. As well as an audience voted prize, our panel of judges will announce awards for the most innovative product or service and the best pitch. The evening will conclude with drinks and networking – a chance to meet the companies and for them to meet you! How to attend If you would like to hear from these high potential companies and network with investors, media and entrepreneurs during the drinks reception, please register here. If you have a product or service that originates from university research, and would like to participate in the pitch, please read the below criteria and apply to participate by completing a short 5 minute form. Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 6 May. Application deadline: 12pm, Wednesday 6th May  Pitching Criteria • The product or service must fit within the Digital Catapult’s theme and challenge areas. All of our projects concern the sharing of closed data in better and more trusted ways. In particular we look at trust in the use of personal data, the licensing and sharing of creative content, data from networks of Internet of Things deployments, and closed organisational data. These represent areas of large economic opportunity and potential disruption on the one side, and strength in the UK research base on the other side. • Each company must be able to show the genesis of their product or service from a research project at a UK university or other institute within the last two years. Just being alumni is not sufficient. • Companies must have a developed prototype to talk about or product/service in market. The event is not intended for later-stage companies; but for companies with first stage funding or earlier. • A maximum of one company representing each UK university will be accepted. • At least one person must be able to attend the event in London on 13 May in person. As well as the chance to pitch to our influential audience members and gain visibility, we anticipate continuing to work with and help the selected companies over time.
